Josh – Lead Singer
Joshua Valoy (Known as JLover)
Born February 5, 1983 • Manhattan, New York
Joshua Valoy, professionally known as JLover, was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. From an early age, he was surrounded by a wide range of musical influences, quickly developing a deep connection to Latin music and rhythm.
At just seven years old, he began immersing himself in Dominican merengue, drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Ramon Orlando Valoy, Toño Rosario, Los Hermanos Rosarios, Eddy Herrera, and Fernando Villalona. By the age of seventeen, Joshua was already composing original songs and shaping a sound uniquely his own.
In 2009, JLover recorded his debut album, Amores Conflictivos, featuring ten tracks—six original compositions and four cover songs. The album includes Regálame Una Noche, Un Siglo Sin Ti, Esta Vida Loca, and a bachata rendition of Regálame Una Noche. Musical arrangements were led by Roberto Suriel, with the album recorded in the Dominican Republic.
JLover’s style blends merengue mambo with a smooth, romantic edge, creating a sound that is both energetic and emotionally engaging. Today, he continues to perform with his band at private events, weddings, and international engagements, delivering vibrant live performances rooted in Dominican tradition.
